Our family has been tending vineyards since time immemorial. However, it was not before Vino-Hvar d.o.o. was established that we started producing our own wines: the Caric wines.
Work in the vineyard is just as important to us as work in the winery. We tend about 5 ha of vineyards in a number of different areas across Vinogorje Hvar (a specially designated winegrowing area), while a minor amount of grapes is purchased from contracted growers. We grow a number of indigenous varieties, such as Plavac Mali, Bogdanjusa, Kuc, Marastina, Darnekusa and Posip. Each of our wines and their names tell a different story, from vineyard to winery.

Manager and owner of Vino-Hvar d.o.o. No one deserves more credit for creating the Caric Wines brand than our chief winemaker. He knows every single vine and every single stone in our vineyards inside out: a close, caring familiarity that we believe to be a prerequisite to making high-quality wine.
Ivo, who for years ran a restaurant, “Kod Komina”, in Pitve village, has also distinguished himself as an accomplished cook and restaurateur. Much to the chagrin of the numerous aficionados of wholesome and authentic Dalmatian cooking, Ivo has now, at least for the time being, decided to devote all of his time to vineyard work and winemaking. Nevertheless, once our new winery is built, it will also feature a restaurant: a good place for Ivo to once again showcase his cooking skills.
